ARMED FORCES FC SET TO BUNDLE JSK KABYLIE SATURDAY13/02/2010 02:01 PM The Gambia’s sole representative in the 2010 CAF Orange Club Championship, Armed Forces FC, are set to bundle Jeunesse Sportive De Kabylie of Algeria on Saturday 13th February 2010, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, in the first leg of the preliminaries of the precious continental club competition. The 2009 Gambia National league champions will start the African champions’ league campaign with a crucial first leg-encounter against Jeunesse Sportive De Kabylie, who are presently second on the 2010 Algerian premier league. "We are much more motivated and committed now than ever before and the confidence among the group at the Camp at the Paradise Suites Hotel could serve as a key factor in our quest to achieve our desired results," the confident Head Coach, Alagie Sey who led the team to its second league title last year. Should Armed Forces snatch a victory over their Algerian counterparts in Saturday's champions league game, they will go into the return-leg encounter at home to Algerian champions with the mentality to hold on to their home win a advantage which could eventually pave the way for them to progress to the second stage of the champions league. In doing so, they will write history by becoming the first Gambian team to progress to the second stage of this competition. . Gambia Armed Forces will welcome back the play-maker Landing Darboe, who watched his side's last few league matches on the sideline due to a slide injury. His presence will surely boost the morals of the team because their hope of achieving any success in the champions league, largely rest on the shoulders of the skillful midfield kingpin who is widely regarded as one of the most skillful footballers the county has ever produced. Meanwhile, Armed Forces will travel to Algeria to robe shoulders with Jeunesse Sportive De Kabylie in Algiers, in two weeks time for the return-leg champions’ league encounter hoping for a positive result to progress BY FATOU SAHO |
