GAMTEL MAINTAIN LEAD IN THE GFA LEAGUE13/02/2010 08:35 AM Gamtel maintained their three points lead at the top over second placed Steve Biko as both won their weekend fixtures against Bakau Utd and Armed Forces respectively. The Telecom Boys were 2-0 winners over the Bakau giants with goals coming from Nabi Darboe and a Saikou Jawneh own goal while it was Assan Jatta who stole the show at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Sunday for the giant killers with a superb hat trick in a 3-2 win over the Soldiers. Gamtel temporarily went six points clear at the top of the standings after their win on Saturday with 13 points from five games but Biko reduced the deficit to three points after their impressive win over the Gambian Champions 24Hours later. Wallidan’s poor start to the 2010 campaign continues after a surprised 1-0 defeat to newly promoted Gambia Ports Authority on Sunday while unbeaten Interior came from a goal down with three minutes left to draw 1-1 with Samger. Kebba Bah scored his second goal in as many games to inflict a second defeat of the season to his former employees as he catapulted the Duck boys to joint second with Steve Biko on 10 points and leave the Blues without a win after five games. Lamin Samateh scored a brilliant goal for the Cherno Samba Academy Boys just past the hour mark which look enough to win the game for them but a defensive error from Edrissa Jarju gifted Interior’s Lamin Findi Jammeh an equalizer in the 87th minute. Hawks remained as one of the teams yet to win this season after they were held to goalless draw by undefeated Seaview while Real de Banjul remained at the foot of the table after they gave away a stoppage time equalizer as they drew 1-1 with Brikama United at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda on Saturday.
