BIKO OPEN THE GAP ON DEFENDING CHAMPIONS13/02/2010 02:01 PM The second and third place holders Steve Biko and Armed Forces respectively played a strong tied match at the Independence Stadium on Sunday in the week five of the ongoing GFA first division League. Before Sunday game, Steve Biko registered two wins, a lost and a draw while Armed Forces had three draws and a win in there previous four games. Assan Jatta opened the score line for Steve Biko in the first five minutes with a spectacular goal given his side an early lead. Their celebrations could not last longer as Armed Forces goal puncher, Buba Sama, leveled the scores five minutes later. Assan Jatta doubled the lead for Biko in the 17th minutes from a penalty caused by Kabba Jobe of Armed Forces putting the score line to 2-1 before the break. Nine minutes in to the second half Assan Jatta increased the score line for Biko with his third goal of the day from a defensive error, which enable him to join the race for the leading goal scorer behind Modou Njie Sarr of Gamtel with four goals in four matches. Armed forces mounted pressures on Biko’s defense line which yielded a second goal through penalty when Lamin Samateh cleared down Kabba Jobe in the box. Buba Sama seized the opportunity to second his second goal of the day. After scoring their second goal, Armed Forces dominated the last minutes of the game searching for an equalizer but their efforts could not provide goal for them as Kabba Jobe turned out two scoring chances to futile in the last minutes of the game.
